33% of my spine is fractured (t4-t12). This happened in 2021. Caused a lot of nerve damage that led to me developing immediate incontinence after the wreck. After a few years living with these injuries and zero surgeries or any real medical help besides PT (doctors only x-rayed my legs cause I couldn't walk, legs were fine, it was peak COVID), lost my insurance and job.
I've been to the GI doctor for years, only medications that helped my minimum 12 diharea movements a day caused urinary retention.
After years I decided the most effective and safest option for me is to take anti-diharea medication every day, multiple times a day.
IDK if you guys know, but diarrhea medication is stupidly expensive. so you can understand how excited I was when my local pharmacy had a new bottle that instead of a max of 28 pills had like 40 for way less money.
Keep in mind, with everything going on, the anti-diharea meds are what keeps me at around a dozen liquid BMs a day. Without them, it's multiple times an hour.
Took those new pills for almost two weeks, confused as to why this new medication wasn't working. I've tried different brands of diarrhea medication and a lot of them take a while to really start to work so I was really holding on to that, but for some reason my diarrhea was worse than ever. Talking five six times an hour.
I grabbed the bottle to read the ingredients to see how it compares to my normal anti-diharea medication. It was laxatives. I just realized I've been taking laxatives everyday for 2 weeks... very very poorly advertised laxatives that also literally say "stomach discomfort relief" on them.
When I realized I couldn't help but laugh, but also be happy because I got a two week tolerance break for my anti-diharea meds. Seems to be working extra good today 😁
TLDR: I have to take anti-diarrhea medication everyday multiple times a day and I accidentally bought a bottle of laxatives two weeks ago. been taking laxatives instead of anti-diarrhea for over 2 weeks.
