This didn’t happen today, but a couple nights ago and I’m still getting heat for it.
I was driving home around 3am after hanging out with friends. I stopped at a big intersection near my place behind a Toyota Supra. Light turns green… and nothing. The car just sits there.
I honk a couple times. No reaction.
So I go around him and continue driving, but I keep checking my mirrors and he’s STILL not moving. At that point I’m thinking okay… something’s not right.
I debated just going home, but it felt wrong leaving it like that, especially since it’s a pretty big junction. So I turned back, parked by the roadside with my hazards on, and walked over.
The guy is completely asleep behind the wheel.
I knock on his window for a good 10 seconds before he wakes up looking confused. I ask if he’s okay, he says yeah, just tired, and that his house is about 5 minutes away.
I didn’t feel comfortable just leaving him, so I followed behind him while he drove home just to make sure he didn’t pass out again. I was in my GT-R so it was easy to keep a bit of distance while still watching him.
He makes it back safely, pulls in, all good. I leave and head home thinking that’s the end of it.
It wasn’t.
My girlfriend has my location, and she saw me stop somewhere random and then take a route that wasn’t directly home. So now she’s convinced I picked up a girl at 3am and sent her home.
I explained everything. She thinks I made the whole story up because “no normal person goes back for that at 3am.”
And honestly… I can kind of see why it sounds suspicious.
But at the same time, I feel like if I didn’t go back and something actually happened to that guy, I’d feel way worse about that than this argument.
Now I’m stuck trying to prove I didn’t cheat… because I helped a guy who fell asleep at a traffic light.
TL;DR: Guy in front of me fell asleep at a light, I went back and made sure he got home safely, now my girlfriend thinks I made it all up to cover cheating.
