Since it’s a nice warm night, I’m hanging out at home with the windows open. Neighbors across the street must be too because I’m hearing their little kid scream every 20-30 seconds for an hour and a half. I can also hear some adults yelling. I’m getting pretty concerned about this situation so I finally call the police (non-emergency number) to see if they will check it out.

The police arrive, I hear them pounding on the door, by now it’s after 10pm so they’re waking people up. The neighbors finally answer the door, I can hear parts of the conversation (very quiet neighborhood). I hear the same screaming 2 or 3 times while the police are there. The police leave without dragging anyone out in handcuffs and the neighbors go back into their house so I guess everything is good.

After a few minutes, the police call me to let me know everything is ok. Apparently the neighbors have a PARROT that screams whenever they leave it alone in its room.

TL;DR TIFU by being the dumb ass that sent the police on a (almost literal) wild goose chase for a screaming parrot that sounded like a small child being abused.
