TIFU By asking my Sister to watch our brother while I rested…

TL;DR: After Dog sitting for almost a month, Watching my cousin and brother together, and now having to dog sit again i am burned out so i asked my sister to watch my brother and all she did was make him miserable.
————————————————————

19M, I’ll do almost anything for money if someone asks. That’s just the kind of man i am. Sorry for word vomit, I am upset.

Last month I was watching my stepdads dogs for money, they weren’t hard to watch but one of them was extremely energetic. Immediately after that was done my little brother was coming back home after being with my aunt for almost a year since my mom was overseas and I was in college (graduated yay). It actually inter lapped for a few days.

In exchange for this favor she wanted my mom to watch my cousin, she then offered me money to watch both if them and I said sure because I didn’t want her stressed. I really want to take the burden off my mom so I started helping more.

To be clear my brother isn’t the issue, he’s 6 and my cousin is 10. My brother is extremely well behaved nowadays and I genuinely have fun with him. It was my cousin that burned me out because he was jealous of him and wanted to hang out with me by himself. So he’d get into fights with him and I have to handle it. My cousin was sneaking around the house and at one point he broke his own phone by slamming it on the floor because he was mad at my brother. It was so stupid but thats for another day. Luckily I didn’t get blamed.

The best system I had was letting the cousin play the PS5 by himself while my brother and mom were out, and however long he played alone is roughly how long my brother plays with me.

If they play together and argue they are both off for 10 minutes and it doubles every time, the most they got to was 20 minutes. It was a lot but my mom said i was doing great and gave me a lot of money out of it.

Now I have to dog sit on the 8th for a total of $140 that my sister arranged. This isn’t normal of her but she wanted me to get some extra money.

The second my cousin left, I played with my brother to pass the time and i noticed I was weirdly annoyed at everything he did. Even though he was well behaved, I noticed this was probably was because I burnt myself out.

So I asked my sister (20) to watch him for one day until 9AM -> 2PM, that’s when i’ll take over. I almost never ask her specifically for favors but I was tired, she hasn’t helped with anything since she been back from college so i know she wasn’t busy. She didn’t want to at first but i got her to agree. To be clear, I’m not upset she wasn’t helping while i was watching the boys, that’s my decision. I am upset she hasn’t done anything at all but cause arguments.

If I am too busy to watch him, for example if I am cleaning. I ask him to play in his room where i can keep an eye on him with the baby monitor. Then I play with him when I’m done. She just stayed in her room and let him run around unsupervised.

While I was asleep my mom asked me to make hotdogs for my brother, I was confused because my sister was watching him. What I find funny is i found out later my 6 year old brother upon finding out my sister was cooking said “Oh no”. He has never said that before lmfao. That’s why my mom asked me before she cooked for him.

She boiled the hotdog and was struggling to even do that. She also wasn’t even watching him as he was in our moms room and didn’t want to be around her because she was yelling. She can’t cook, she either burns it or it’s really bad.

For comparison, I made Hotdogs cooked on the flat stove with toasted bread and sautéed broccoli for my cousin, brother, and Mom. I wasn’t expecting the boys to eat the broccoli but it was the first thing they finished and they asked me to cook for them more in the future, even my mom killed the food. It’s the same food and two completely different reactions, he probably didn’t even get a side.

I am extremely embarrassed and upset my brother had to go through that, I didn’t think it would be this bad. I thought it would be quick but my bro was miserable.

Edit: My mother did know about the deal with my sister beforehand, my sister was just so unhelpful that she forgot she was even watching him.

TIFU by forgetting my purse and attempting to get fuel

Not the craziest story but hey. I'm obligated to say this was a few months ago but I cringe every time I go past the petrol station . My petrol was getting low, not dangerously so but it said 27 miles left, (oftentimes it then suddenly drops to about 16 for example, and then 5 and then 0 very fast) I didnt have my purse on me as I just didn't need it... Picked my daughter up from school and then went on to collect my 2 stepdaughters from across town and then set off for home. En route the gauge went to 7 and then suddenly it was 1 so I stopped at the petrol station near our house. The petrol was on 0 as i pulled up to the pump and that's when I realised I had no money. I left the kids in the car at the pump and went in to talk to the cashier, it wasn't mega busy but there was a queue, I'd heard that they can help you if you can't pay for fuel. Like keeping something of yours as security. It was an elderly man and he basically refused to help. At this point i...

TIFU - Don’t do what I did

On Sunday morning Aug. 24th, I awoke to discover a large blind spot in my right eye, which turned out to be what is called wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It has resulted in a very significant, permanent loss of vision in that eye. Although I maintain good peripheral vision, whatever I focus on at best is very blurry, and mostly disappears. I can barely make out the large E at the top of the eye chart. If this happens to my left eye I’ll be unable to read or drive. It turns out that I missed the opportunity that I had to prevent this from becoming a serious problem because I failed to report what appeared to be minor changes in my vision. In the weeks prior to August I had noticed that what I knew to be straight lines appeared to my right eye to have a little waviness. I also noticed that the color of my front lawn, which I could see through the window from my recliner,  was subdued, looked almost gray, in my right eye. So I scheduled an eye exam, which revealed the p...

TIFU by getting suspended for 2 days by my front office in school.

I (13M) am an African American student at Jeannette junior high who had got suspended for 2 days here. I was in math class minding my business until my teacher had told me to go to the main office, which posed no problem to me. As i went down there, the people of the front office had stopped me and made me get a new ID (yes, we have id's.) so i had asked them if i could maybe do a different alternative and call my mother to let her bring the Id here, even then, the Id isn't that important. So, although i was talking to them in a calm manner and not showing any signs of rebellion, they had threatened to call the police on me without thinking twice before calling my parents. This is where i started getting angry, and even then now the black peers agree that could have been a racially motivated action. They then told me to sit in the office conference room because of that, leading into more anger. They had then called my mother who had came over to the school didn't even let ...
