TIFU by Missing One Turn, Letting My Phone Die, and Accidentally Becoming a Missing Person

Last night, I took my dog for what was supposed to be a simple walk to my in-laws' house, which is less than two miles away—about a 30-minute walk. For some context, I live in a rural area, so walking along the roads is pretty normal. I left around 9 p.m. while it was still light out, and since the roads were quiet, I decided to take a different route for a change.

Unfortunately, while I was talking to my mom on the phone, I missed my turn. My phone died shortly afterward, but I wasn't worried because I thought I was almost there.

I was very wrong.

I ended up walking nearly four miles down a long country road before realizing something wasn't right. By then, it was completely dark, and nothing looked familiar anymore. I turned around and started retracing my steps, but in the pitch black, I had no idea where I was. My poor dog was getting tired, I was starting to panic, and it had to be well past 10:30 p.m.

Eventually, I came across a well-lit house and decided I had no choice but to ask for help. A woman, probably in her late 50s, answered the door. I apologized for bothering her, explained that I was lost, and asked if I could borrow her phone to call my husband.

As I was dialing his number, a police officer pulled into the driveway.

He called out to me, asked who I was, and then told me that my husband and father-in-law had already reported me missing and were out searching for me.

The moment he said that, I realized just how worried everyone must have been. Not long after, my father-in-law arrived to pick me and my exhausted dog up, and we headed home.

I've honestly never been so embarrassed in my life. I felt terrible for scaring the woman whose door I knocked on, even worse for worrying my family, and incredibly grateful that everyone cared enough to look for me.

TL;DR: I went for a "quick" walk with my dog, got hopelessly lost after missing a turn and my phone died. By the time I found someone to let me borrow a phone, my husband and father-in-law had already reported me missing, and the police had arrived to find me.

TIFU by insulting my boyfriends balls

I (late 20s F) had a causal conversation with my boyfriend who is a farmer. We were cuddling in bed naked while getting ready to get in the mood. After i told him about my day he started telling me about his day. He was a bit worried because his crops are going to come out smaller than other years. In an effort to cheer him up I told him "you also have little nuts but that doesn't stop me from enjoying them". Refering to his testucles. In that moment it did sound like a compliment and to be honest he does have really small testicles. He immediately got up put on his shorts and told me he is going for smoking. Now he is mad at me and says sex is off the table for tonight as he is not in the mood. TL;DR I compared my boyfriends testicle with the size of his crops and he got mad at me

TIFU - Don’t do what I did

On Sunday morning Aug. 24th, I awoke to discover a large blind spot in my right eye, which turned out to be what is called wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It has resulted in a very significant, permanent loss of vision in that eye. Although I maintain good peripheral vision, whatever I focus on at best is very blurry, and mostly disappears. I can barely make out the large E at the top of the eye chart. If this happens to my left eye I’ll be unable to read or drive. It turns out that I missed the opportunity that I had to prevent this from becoming a serious problem because I failed to report what appeared to be minor changes in my vision. In the weeks prior to August I had noticed that what I knew to be straight lines appeared to my right eye to have a little waviness. I also noticed that the color of my front lawn, which I could see through the window from my recliner,  was subdued, looked almost gray, in my right eye. So I scheduled an eye exam, which revealed the p...

TIFU by sh*tting in the bushes at a high school

So I’m training for a local 10k race in a couple months. That’s about 6.2 miles. Not a long race but not a short one either. I’m making good progress and tinkering with what works for me on longer runs, how I can keep my body moving at an easy, consistent pace for about 70-80 minutes. I’ve been increasing the distance over the past few months, prioritizing getting the distance down before I work on pace. I train early mornings at a local high school track within walking distance of my house. They have public hours almost every morning from 6-8 am. It’s a very nice track with good lighting and ✨no public bathrooms✨. Because I’ve been focused on increasing distance I’m waking up earlier and earlier to get to the track and really hammer it out before I go home and shower for work. In turn, I’ve been drinking a little extra COFFEE most mornings get my body going. Til now this hasn’t been a problem, I don’t leave the house until my body takes care of business. I successfully dropped the ...
