I love the ginger they give you with sushi at a Japanese restaurant plus it’s good for your stomach. I never really thought much about it since it’s the only time I ever eat ginger besides drinking ginger ale occasionally. I thought to myself maybe I’ll just buy the ginger myself and make it in bulk. I bought a bunch of ginger from the super market thinking I can just peel and slice it and I would have ginger just like at the sushi restaurant. Then I realized it doesn’t work that way. I googled how to make it that way. Actually I looked it up on tiktok. You have to pickle it which involved rice vinegar which I didn’t have so I used regular vinegar. It turned out gross. So much easier to just go and buy the premade stuff.
TL;DR: Fresh ginger is not the same as sushi restaurant ginger and it’s a lot easier to just go buy it than try to pickle it yourself.
