TIFU and now I will be half blind for the next week or so

Today I left the house in a hurry. I was carrying my lunch, my daughters lunch, my purse, my laptop bag, a sandwich baggy with my daughter’s allergy meds, my phone, a Diet Coke, my keys, and my glasses. It was pouring down rain and I was a hot mess, but I was a server in a past life so I thought “ I totally got this”. I got into my car and started backing down the driveway with my daughter in tow, on our way to the drop off line at school and then on to work. As I was driving I noticed that everything seemed hazy and blurry and I realized that I did not in fact have my glasses. I started digging through the console and my purse and my lunch bag etc and figured out that they must have been left at home. I wasn’t too worried as I had time to run back by the house on the way to work so I passed my teenager off to school and went home. As soon as I got home I went tearing through the house looking for them. I flipped the light on in the bedroom where the hubs was sleeping to look at my side of the bed, (he goes in later), went through the kitchen, opened the trash, looked in bathrooms, the laundry, the garage and there were no glasses. I decided to go back to my car to look for them again. On the way out the door I saw a single lens on the ground in a puddle. I ran to my car and saw my beautiful purple blue frames smashed almost flat and completely broken… under my front tire. Sigh. Thankfully after calling (and this is not an add for LensCrafters) I found out that my damage warranty does in fact cover glasses that have been run over by an SUV and I have a new pair heading my way, but it will be a week or so. Meanwhile I am sitting at work staring at my blurry @ss computer screen and trying to type this out. It’s not the craziest FU but it is going to be a tough week or so with my 40 something eyes.

TLDR I was trying to carry too much to my car this morning and in the process dropped my glasses and then ran over them with my car. Now I have to work half blind for the next week or so until I get new ones.

TIFU by getting called racist for not handing cash to a customer

today I (F18) fucked up by worked a long ahh shift and got put on register. I never hand money in people’s hands as customers have yelled at me for it, and i think it’s germy so I scoot it towards them as a sign of respect. this lady came in and after i did that she goes “Imma need you to do that again and put it in my hand, you did this last time too don’t you know it’s disrespectful” (meanwhile i haven’t worked register in 2 months at said job and didn’t recognize her) so i apologize, and then cuz it’s call off time i go talk to my boss about it and they all agree with me. apparently though she told my keyholder who’s a poc i was being RACIST by not touching her. so i got told i need to do better even though i didn’t do anything. she was insinuating i was a racist. idk if i should quit or what but i fucked up. TIFU by making a joke that landed horribly

I was talking to someone and thought I was being funny, but the second the words left my mouth I knew I had messed up. It was one of those jokes that sounds fine in your head and then just dies completely in real life. Nobody laughed, the mood got awkward instantly, and I could feel my face getting hot because I knew I had just made everything weird for no reason. What made it worse is that I tried to recover from it instead of just shutting up. So then I started talking more, which only made it more obvious that I was panicking. You know that feeling when you can hear yourself getting worse while it’s happening and you still can’t stop? yeah, that was me. I kept trying to act normal, but the whole thing was already gone.
