TIFU by kicking a snake corpse

You know how sometimes you see something and immediately have an impulsive thought to do something stupid? Yesterday, I saw a dead snake on the side of the road that looked freshly killed. I don’t know what killed it, but it was definitely dead. For fun, I moved it about 12 inches into the middle of the sidewalk with my shoe, hoping people would get freaked out by it, and walked away. Today, I noticed someone had moved the snake back to the side of the road again, this time even farther from the sidewalk. So naturally, I decided to move it back. The problem was, it was really far away and somehow stuck to the pavement. I kicked it harder to get it moving, and snake guts went flying all over my shoe. Now my shoe smells like rotting flesh. TL;DR: Don’t kick a snake corpse unless you want your shoe to smell like decaying guts.

TIFU by ignoring my Reddit account for 11 years

So I got an email this morning that absolutely gave me a heart attack! "Your Reddit email address has been changed." I didn't change anything. I panicked immediately. Turns out someone had hacked into my old Reddit account, [ u/vashmel ]( u/vashmel ), and changed the email to some random sketchy address. The thing is, I completely forgot this account even existed. I've been using a different Reddit account for years. I clicked the recovery link in the email, set a new password, and got the account back in like 10 minutes flat. Crisis averted. Then I actually looked at this account I just fought to recover. 3 karma. THREE. Last post was 7 years ago. The one before that was 12 years ago. I was apparently very passionate about Dota 2 loot boxes in 2014 and then completely disappeared. But here's the kicker — the account has an 11-Year Club trophy. And Reddit apparently made it an Elder in 36 subreddits I don't even remember joining. Turns out Reddit a...

TIFU by leaving my car running for 10 minutes and coming back to it stolen and now im 50k in debt with no coverage

I know this is gonna sound stupid as fuck but I got way too comfortable living in a smaller town where nobody really worries about this stuff I’ve always left my keys in my car when running into stores and if I was only gonna be inside for a few mins I’d usually leave it running too last Thursday I stopped at Sheetz after work around 6:30 in my black 2024 Chevy Tahoe RST It was hot as hell outside so I left it running with the AC on while I went inside to grab drinks and food I was inside maybe 8 or 9 minutes max came back outside and the Tahoe was gone Some older guy near the pumps told me he saw a dude walk past it, realize it was running, hop in, and take off Cops checked cameras and thats literally exactly what happened Dude looked around for maybe 2 seconds before driving off like it was his car heres the part that really fucked me though Insurance denied my claim because I “failed to secure the vehicle” by leaving it running unattended with the keys inside I genuinely tho...

TIFU by trying to check the water level on my Waterpik.

I recently got a Waterpik. The very first day I owned it, I turned it on  before  I put it in my mouth. It immediately power-washed my bathroom mirror, my shirt, and my dignity. Lesson learned. Ever since that day, I have been incredibly careful. I am a disciplined, methodical Waterpik user. The nozzle goes in the mouth,  then  the power goes on. Fast forward to this morning. I'm using it, and the motor starts making a sputtering sound like the reservoir is running dry ...I pulled it out of my mouth to look at the water level...but, I didn't turn it off first. I took a high-pressure jet of lukewarm tap water directly up the nose. My sinuses have been aggressively deep-cleaned, my brain is hydrated, and I had to towel off my ceiling. TL;DR:  Pulled a running dental power-washer out of my mouth to check the water level, ended up giving my nasal cavity a localized hurricane.

TIFU masurbating while no one was home...

Or at least they weren't when I started. I (28f) live with my bf and a roommate (both 27 m). I work remote. Once my bf left for his work, roommie leaves for work early af, I figured I'd enjoy the alone time. No idea how long it'd been, I wasn't watching anything so there wasn't media playing, i guess I was just in the zone. And since no one was around I figured I could be a little vocal. By the time i finished, my roommate had gotten home. Ill be honest I heard him going at it once and was sad but thats the perks of living with other people. Problem is my boyfriend and I have a cat. We're also generally bad housemates... and leave the door open a lot of the times. Roommie has teased us for being weak and letting the cat rule us but usually its fine. The doorway isn't in line of sight for the bed or where we change so sometimes we're a little too comfy and will be naked, out of sight, with the door open. We're good and if Roommie is home and...

TIFU by telling my barber I knew what "two on the sides" meant for twenty three years

obligatory this didn't happen today it's been happening since 2003 and I just had a quiet panic about it on the bus, I'm 42. when I was nineteen I walked into a barbershop for the first time as an adult, meaning my mom wasn't waiting in the car, and the guy asked me what I wanted and I had not prepared for this, in my head I assumed haircuts worked like ordering coffee where you say a word and the professional handles the rest, turns out you have to know words, numbers even, hair has a grading system. so the guy says what are we doing today man and I, a confident adult, said uh just like a two on the sides. I have no idea where I got two. I think I heard it in a movie, I think the movie was Varsity Blues, I don't know. he nodded, he cut, I tipped 15% because I had read somewhere that's what adults do, I walked out, I looked fine, I assumed I had cracked the code. for the next twenty three years in five different cities with maybe fourteen different barbers when ...
