TIFU by using a virtual camera in the middle of class

imagine this, you are a high school student studying online (because the one and only virus) from 7am till noon, all you wanna do in class is just wear a tee and go on with your life listening to the teacher without contributing much unless asked but you apparently have to wear a uniform including a tie (which i think is stupid. wearing a school uniform in an online learning environment). with that 6 months ago i decided to use OBS to automate the camera, so i don't have to wear a school uniform and since i expect that most teachers wont focus too much. boy was i wrong

the setup i used wasn't too complex, only a single 7 minute video (i know it should've been longer and that could've probably saved my life) slowed to 75% and looped "seamlessly" with some "odd" movements like drinking tea and more but for what I'm doing, i expect this should be more than enough (and as i said, boy was i wrong)

despite the shitty system i have which should be blatantly visible that I'm using a virtual cam in the middle of class (especially since its only 20 or so people in the zoom meeting or google meet link), it has worked way better than i thought, I've used the same video for about 4-5 months and almost no one noticed it (except some of my classmates whom i have told or have figured out themselves). most of the teachers are boomers and most of them seem to go with the logic that if there's video from my cam, that means that the students camera is on so for most situations i think I'm safe.

so it was in the middle of class, you know, the basic attendance teachers do in class where the teacher says your name you just say "present" and just move on, when my name was called i just say "present" but it seems the teacher noticed, she asked why is it when i speak my mouth on camera wasn't moving and with that everything went downhill, i gave the SHITTIEST reason i can ever give but after that it just moved on. meanwhile on a discord server with my friends they are reacting that i may be screwed (spoiler alert, they were right). i thought i dodged a massive bullet but little did i know that she has got her eyes locked on me.

zoom about an hour later in the middle of class, about 20 mins till the class is over and ready for the next lesson i was asked to answer one of the questions and with that she asked me again the same question, and with a couple seconds of silence she finally spilled the beans, she asked if i used some sort of video as the camera and with that time froze. I knew i was fucked when she asked that and i have only 2 options, try wiggly my way out or confess the truth and of course, i decided to admit it but that wasn't even the end of it.

when i thought the confession was was just the end of it, no it wasn't the end of it. the result post that is i have to wear my uniform with my actual camera on, and that results in a couple minutes of awkward silence of me just trying to find my tie and school uniform. meanwhile in the server my friends are just talking about the event, especially since many of my friends expect i will be fucked. the only thing felt was humiliation, guilt and panic.

and of course there is a consequence to this event, now I'm gonna be moderated basically all the time by the class president, I've definitely ruined my reputation and probably made the school regulations way more strict.

though to be honest, while there's that shitfest that I've created, i honestly felt proud. i felt proud that it has worked so well for something so easy to prepare for a surprisingly long time, its sad its over, that i cant do this or else but it does make me oddly proud that i worked so well

TL;DR: i made a shitty virtual cam system and got caught doing this when i least expect it and broke the trust of my teacher and got into the blacklist. fun :D

TIFU - Don’t do what I did

On Sunday morning Aug. 24th, I awoke to discover a large blind spot in my right eye, which turned out to be what is called wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). TIFU by getting suspended for 2 days by my front office in school.

I (13M) am an African American student at Jeannette junior high who had got suspended for 2 days here. I was in math class minding my business until my teacher had told me to go to the main office, which posed no problem to me. As i went down there, the people of the front office had stopped me and made me get a new ID (yes, we have id's.) so i had asked them if i could maybe do a different alternative and call my mother to let her bring the Id here, even then, the Id isn't that important. So, although i was talking to them in a calm manner and not showing any signs of rebellion, they had threatened to call the police on me without thinking twice before calling my parents. This is where i started getting angry, and even then now the black peers agree that could have been a racially motivated action. TIFU by putting my already skinny jeans in the dryer on high heat.

TL;DR: Was stupid and didn't realize I put my clothes on extra high heat in the dryer. Had to rock skintight skinny jeans all day with tighty whities (only clean pair I had since I procrastinate doing laundry like crazy). I guess the constant wedgies and squishing are punishment for my stupidity. Honestly don’t know who else to blame but myself for this. I’m a scatterbrained guy so I literally put the highest setting on a load with most of my clothes, and my skinny jeans that I was planning to wear today. You can probably already see where this is going, but somehow I didn’t. For context, these jeans were already pushing the limits of what could reasonably be called wearable. They fit, technically, but only in the sense that I could get them on with enough determination and a bit of strategic breathing. Sitting down in them was more of a commitment than a casual action.
