TIFU by ruining the birthday girls birthday party

This happened years and years ago, but I just remembered this and thought I should post.

Long build-up; however, this is needed as the chances of this occurring are relatively low.

Part 1 - Backstory London Ex and study:

I am German but moved with my family to London UK when I was 13 years old.

Met a girl when I was ~17, and she became my first long term girlfriend.

Long term means we stayed together till my 3rd year of University (of 4).

Long story short… we were young, she wanted different things than me, and she realized this when she started University.

I was in my -2nd year of Uni by then. We started living together when she joined University. Things were great initially, but suddenly she kept getting more and more distance, no more sex, she went out more than usual, and didn't come home as she "stayed with friends", etc. I confronted her, we talked, she gave me excuses and said she needed time to figure things out, etc. Anyway, this went on for far too long and instead of one of us ending it sooner rather than later after around 9 months, I got more and more paranoid (and heartbroken) and I did an awful thing and read her emails (yes, I know :( ).

I found out via her emails she cheated on me with some Swedish guy called Gunnar around 6 months ago. They had a thing blah blah and frankly, I don't recall any detail except he was madly in love with her, but she broke it off. I confronted her, we argued, we broke up etc. I was very heartbroke yada yada lives eventually went on and we even met 6 years later and had a beer.

Anyway enough of the ex and her Swedish lover Gunnar.

Part 2 - Friends colleague boyfriends:

I finished University and moved "back" to Germany for a while; I started working in Germany for ~1 years but then moved back to London again.

I became Facebook friends (via Facebook when it was new and people used it to find old school friends!) then proper friends with a girl I knew somewhat well from school (not University!).

Please keep this in mind: I did not stay in touch with her or most people after leaving school and going to University (this was before imessage, whatsapp etc).

One day she asked me to accompany her to a colleague of hers birthday party at a bar since she did not know any of her colleagues' friends and was worried she would either be bored, guys hitting at her etc. Anyway, I said sure thing and off we went.

!This is about ~3 years after the break up with my long term girlfriend!

At this bar, I started saying hello to everyone, meet the girls whose birthday party it was, then her boyfriend whose name was Gunnar, who was ?!Swedish!?

Me already semi drunk blurb out: "Oh Gunnar?!! Do you know exgirlfriendsname?! "

Him with shock in his eyes and voice: "Yes!?!"

Me in an adrenaline rush and disbelieve: "OMG, you are the guy my ex cheated on me with!".

Him: "....." But a thousand-mile stare and me smiling cause I was happy I met the guy finally.

I quickly realized I might have said that too loud or should not have said anything at all but too late. I turn around and see the birthday girl already tearing up and a friend of hers getting tissues out. My friend is just staring at me with a 'omg what did you do'. It turns out birthday girl was the girl Gunnar started seeing after my ex. The birthday girl had some insecurities about him and his/my ex even after 3 years of being together and well, I brought that topic up again.

My friend and I quickly left and well the party never started I heard.

TLDR: I said to the birthday girls boyfriend "OMG, you are the guy my ex girlfriend cheated on me with!". destroying her birthday party.

TIFU by forgetting my purse and attempting to get fuel

Not the craziest story but hey. I'm obligated to say this was a few months ago but I cringe every time I go past the petrol station . My petrol was getting low, not dangerously so but it said 27 miles left, (oftentimes it then suddenly drops to about 16 for example, and then 5 and then 0 very fast) I didnt have my purse on me as I just didn't need it... Picked my daughter up from school and then went on to collect my 2 stepdaughters from across town and then set off for home. En route the gauge went to 7 and then suddenly it was 1 so I stopped at the petrol station near our house. The petrol was on 0 as i pulled up to the pump and that's when I realised I had no money. I left the kids in the car at the pump and went in to talk to the cashier, it wasn't mega busy but there was a queue, I'd heard that they can help you if you can't pay for fuel. Like keeping something of yours as security. It was an elderly man and he basically refused to help. At this point i...

TIFU - Don’t do what I did

On Sunday morning Aug. 24th, I awoke to discover a large blind spot in my right eye, which turned out to be what is called wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It has resulted in a very significant, permanent loss of vision in that eye. Although I maintain good peripheral vision, whatever I focus on at best is very blurry, and mostly disappears. I can barely make out the large E at the top of the eye chart. If this happens to my left eye I’ll be unable to read or drive. It turns out that I missed the opportunity that I had to prevent this from becoming a serious problem because I failed to report what appeared to be minor changes in my vision. In the weeks prior to August I had noticed that what I knew to be straight lines appeared to my right eye to have a little waviness. I also noticed that the color of my front lawn, which I could see through the window from my recliner,  was subdued, looked almost gray, in my right eye. So I scheduled an eye exam, which revealed the p...

TIFU by getting suspended for 2 days by my front office in school.

I (13M) am an African American student at Jeannette junior high who had got suspended for 2 days here. I was in math class minding my business until my teacher had told me to go to the main office, which posed no problem to me. As i went down there, the people of the front office had stopped me and made me get a new ID (yes, we have id's.) so i had asked them if i could maybe do a different alternative and call my mother to let her bring the Id here, even then, the Id isn't that important. So, although i was talking to them in a calm manner and not showing any signs of rebellion, they had threatened to call the police on me without thinking twice before calling my parents. This is where i started getting angry, and even then now the black peers agree that could have been a racially motivated action. They then told me to sit in the office conference room because of that, leading into more anger. They had then called my mother who had came over to the school didn't even let ...
