TIFU by asking my girlfriend what she calls her private parts

So this happened about 10 years ago now. For context, Me and my at the time girlfriend were both in High school at a boarding school with strict curfews and rules against the opposite sex being in your room. They would check your room every night at 10 to make sure everybody was present and where they were supposed to be. The building was 4 floors high and there was a security guard at night in the first floor to ensure everybody was staying in their rooms. The bottom two floors were reserved for the girls, the top two for the boys. So basically as long as you weren't placed in the first floor you could do what you wanted because the security guard would rarely walk around. Bear with me, this is important later.

So I started dating a girl that I had known for some time. After a few weeks we started trying to sleep in each other rooms after curfew, but unfortunately she was in the first floor, and I was in the third floor. So she couldn't just come up after they checked all the rooms. So eventually she figured out that her roommates could just tell the person that did the checking that my GF was showering, but she would already be with me upstairs before the security guard arrived. This worked for a while. We eventually got caught, but that's a hole different story.

So after a few weeks of doing this and staying in my room sleeping together, not having sex, we started to entertain the idea of having our first time together. I agreed, and we decided to try the following night. Well I was nervous because she was basically my first for everything, my first kiss, my first date, my first GF. So because I didn't want to seem unprepared, I tried googling how it should go down and what exactly the steps were leading up to this. Well, I eventually found a video on YouTube that basically explained the entire thing.

It wasn't that I was unfamiliar with the mechanics, but I didn't really know what I should say and how we get started. So I watched the video multiple times and tried to remember everything. Well, the next night came, and I felt prepared. I was going to follow the exact steps of the video and this would be great. We started getting into it and started taking our clothes off. Then I remembered how the video made a big deal out of asking your partner what they call their private parts. In the video, they gave their private parts animal names, so I thought this would happen here too. So I asked: "What exactly should I call it?". Well, she looked confused and didn't know what to say. She said she didn't know, and I started getting the sense that it was getting awkward. I asked again:" What exactly do you call it?". We stopped, and she told me to just use the normal terms. That wasn't what I was expecting because that did not happen in the YouTube video. She got the sense that this wasn't the answer I was looking for, and she asked what I answer I was expecting. I got bright red, and I tried playing it off as a joke. I didn't want to admit that I was just basically following a guide from YouTube on how to have sex for the first time. I felt so embarrassed and couldn't look her in the eyes anymore.

15-year-old me did not know how to deal with this situation and wanted to disappear into the ground. Well I wanted to ask her to leave, but well she couldn't. She was trapped up here because of the security guard until morning. So the rest of the night I tried avoiding any conversation or eye contact. The next morning came and she left. We never talked about it again, but we did continue dating for a couple of months. This memory haunts me to this day and I feel cringed out every time I think about it.

TL;DR: I asked my GF what she calls her private parts because I followed the exact guide of a YouTube video on how to have sex for the first time. I expected to get an animal name as a response but got no response and made both of us feel awkward.

TIFU by forgetting my purse and attempting to get fuel

Not the craziest story but hey. I'm obligated to say this was a few months ago but I cringe every time I go past the petrol station . My petrol was getting low, not dangerously so but it said 27 miles left, (oftentimes it then suddenly drops to about 16 for example, and then 5 and then 0 very fast) I didnt have my purse on me as I just didn't need it... Picked my daughter up from school and then went on to collect my 2 stepdaughters from across town and then set off for home. En route the gauge went to 7 and then suddenly it was 1 so I stopped at the petrol station near our house. The petrol was on 0 as i pulled up to the pump and that's when I realised I had no money. I left the kids in the car at the pump and went in to talk to the cashier, it wasn't mega busy but there was a queue, I'd heard that they can help you if you can't pay for fuel. Like keeping something of yours as security. It was an elderly man and he basically refused to help. At this point i...

TIFU - Don’t do what I did

On Sunday morning Aug. 24th, I awoke to discover a large blind spot in my right eye, which turned out to be what is called wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It has resulted in a very significant, permanent loss of vision in that eye. Although I maintain good peripheral vision, whatever I focus on at best is very blurry, and mostly disappears. I can barely make out the large E at the top of the eye chart. If this happens to my left eye I’ll be unable to read or drive. It turns out that I missed the opportunity that I had to prevent this from becoming a serious problem because I failed to report what appeared to be minor changes in my vision. In the weeks prior to August I had noticed that what I knew to be straight lines appeared to my right eye to have a little waviness. I also noticed that the color of my front lawn, which I could see through the window from my recliner,  was subdued, looked almost gray, in my right eye. So I scheduled an eye exam, which revealed the p...

TIFU by getting suspended for 2 days by my front office in school.

I (13M) am an African American student at Jeannette junior high who had got suspended for 2 days here. I was in math class minding my business until my teacher had told me to go to the main office, which posed no problem to me. As i went down there, the people of the front office had stopped me and made me get a new ID (yes, we have id's.) so i had asked them if i could maybe do a different alternative and call my mother to let her bring the Id here, even then, the Id isn't that important. So, although i was talking to them in a calm manner and not showing any signs of rebellion, they had threatened to call the police on me without thinking twice before calling my parents. This is where i started getting angry, and even then now the black peers agree that could have been a racially motivated action. They then told me to sit in the office conference room because of that, leading into more anger. They had then called my mother who had came over to the school didn't even let ...
