I planned a 2 week trip to Philippines to visit my gf, explore the culture, celebrate my birthday and take a break from being a caregiver. I planned the trip since January. It was going to be the trip of a lifetime.
But I arrived at the airport 30 minutes before scheduled departure and the airline already left the check in area.
While on the phone panicking at the busy airport trying to find a new flight under $1000. I dropped my passport wallet containing $1200 dollars. I was trying to move my luggage, write down information while on the phone with the airline rep whose English was barely understandable.
A full five minutes passed before I realized my wallet was not in my pocket. And airport security saw a man turn it in to them. The passport and cards were there but all my spending money saved for the trip stolen out of it.
I feel so sad and embarrassed. I still have a chance to take the new flight in 5 days. But it will only give me 8 days in the trip and no money to spend.
"TL;DR:" when traveling don't carry all your money in one place and be an hour or more early for your flight.
