TIFU calling my friend “mom”, only partially on accident

No, it’s not the kind of situation where you call your teacher “mom” in school as a child, there’s so much more here.

So I have a friend who is having a baby, she’s a few years older than me, very caring and supportive, the typical mom friend. She supported me through every single problem I’ve had since we met, she’s always by my side.

My mother is a piece of shit. She’s dismissing, emotionally abusive and neglectful and she turned me into a fucked up adult with mommy issues who struggles with social relationships and multiple mental health issues. Of course she never supported me, but since I have the friend in question I’ve been suffering less from my mother wounds as I found some to replace her.

I was talking to said friend, she confessed her worries about not being a good mother to her child and possibly cause them irreparable trauma so, in order to reassure her, I told her she’s born to be a mother, she really loves the baby she’s expecting, she’s always there for people and she’s basically my mom already.

The thing is I had a very serious face and tone saying that, more than I intended.

We already joked about her being my and everyone’s mom, but I could tell she was confused because I looked dead serious. She laughed it off but I know what I said was weird.

TL;DR: my friend is pregnant, I’m really close with her and she’s basically like a second mother to me so I told her that unironically.
