TIFU By laughing at a Serial Killer movie on the first date...

Well, my first post went over pretty well, so I thought I'd share another horror story, and honestly...I have plenty. But, if you want to check out that first post, here it is...(Highly recommend it cause I go back and forth comparing dates ALOT).

TIFU by agreeing to on a double date with my best friend (A shit show)

Part 1:

This all takes place back in 2021 (A bit after covid settled down so we weren't wearing masks anymore.)

So I (F21) was talking to this guy on Bumble (M23 "Dave")...He was the kind of guy that didn't have to try hard to be funny, it just came naturally for him. We talked for a few days on Bumble, then switched to Snap. So thankfully, I actually knew Dave was real and my age. We were kind of both in that stage where, "Oh we're not looking to date, we're just looking for friends."

Yeah...mmhmm...Sure...

Well, everything is going great. We're talking everyday, having a fun, and finally we decide to meet up. Well, again, this was supposed to be a "friends" meet up so we agreed to bring a friend too. Basically...another double date. Cause my first one went so great lmao.

Fuck up #1:

I was all into the Crime Junkie podcast at the time, so I was obsessively listening/watching True Crime stuff. "Spiral" had just came out and I was so excited to see it (Sequel to Saw X). I asked him if he wanted to and he agreed.

I decided to invite my bestie "Tess" to go with me (If coming from other post, didn't want to invite Jasmine cause she clammed up on me. So thought it better if my more extroverted friend to be my wing man lol), and honestly, Tess was a G.

We all agreed to meet up at EVO movie theater, and for those that don't know, it's movies, bowling, and arcade games all in one place.

Fuck up #2:

I was SO NERVOUS. I was already head over heels for this guy, so I wanted so badly to make such a great impression. Tess is trying to talk me down, but it was not helping. As soon as Dave walked in, I froze. My mind just went completely blank and everything we had talked about over the past month just vanquished. (I completely understood why Jasmine clammed up now.)

Dave looked exactly like his photos, he didn't hide himself and...I didn't f-ing register how tall 6'2" was lol (I'm only 5'5"). He was a tall glass of water and I was here for it lmao. But...I still couldn't f-ing think! So I'm a mess, trying to think of things to talk about, mentally screaming "SAY SOMETHING! THINK! ANYTHING!" Honestly, I can't remember if I did. (Totally forgot to mention that his friend flaked on him).

We decided to hit the bowling scene first, I SUCK AT BOWLING and instead of using the bumpers (Which I usually did), I proceeded to gutter ball nearly every round. Tess is talking to Dave, helping me out, and I'm trying to join in when I can, but it basically became blaringly obvious how socially awkward I am in person. Over text, I was open, honest, funny, so he's basically seeing a completely different person.

Fuck up #3:

It's time for the movie...you know, the serial killer movie?

I decided to sit in the middle of us and am enthralled by the movie. I'm the type of person that loves movies, even if they're complete trash. It also doesn't help that I get giggly when I am nervous and awkward, which I was. Well, the graphics are so bad, the acting was decent, and I am just...laughing. In the middle of the movie, I am laughing. Watching someone get slaughtered, laughing. I probably looked like a psychopath.

Dave is looking at me like, "What the actual fuck is wrong with her?" Did I pick up on that at the time? No. No I did not. I thought he was just disturbed by the movie, which he was lol. So I'm sitting there, eating popcorn, acting like a kid watching their favorite cartoon.

By the end of the movie, we were all pretty much ready to go. Tess went to the bathroom to give us a moment to talk, which I did. STILL LAUGHING AT THE MOVIE. Then Dave finally awkwardly says, "Yeah...I just watch someone getting killed, then I turn to look at you and you're laughing."

And it finally clicked, OH. I disturbed him.

Well I'm trying to save what little was left of this dying date, but the damage was already done and there's only so much I can do in the 5 minute span Tess was in the bathroom. We finally decided to part ways, and I rush to my car.

As soon as I'm in there, I spend him a text saying, "OMG I'm so sorry I was so awkward, I don't know what came over me. I'm not usually like this ." And he proceeded to reassure me and tell me that it was okay. It was a little awkward, I think I really disturbed him. I told him how I was really into True Crime, and reassured him I'm not a psychopath-totally what a psychopath would do....

Part 2: Our friendship.

Well, our friendship continued throughout the year. Meeting up ALONE. Having little "dates" that weren't really dates cause again, we're only "friends." The lines started blurring. Texts became flirty...and he agrees to let me come over to his parents place where he lived. His parents were at their property out of state at the time, so we had the whole place to ourselves. We agreed I would stay the night, and even "joked" how Oh I should totally just share a bed with you...

Fuck up #4:

I TOOK THAT AS SERIOUS. I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING SHARE A BED. WHAT GUY WOULD LET AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE THIS SLIP BY?!?!?!

Dave. Dave is that guy.

We had a fun day, but it came time for us to go to bed. Y'all, I was ready. I had shaved every possible inch of me. I had ensured I wore all my lotions and potions and perfumes trying to ensure I smelt good. I even picked out a cute pair of pajamas that I bought specifically for this. I was so nervous.

Well...he proceeded to lead me to the guest bed. I was CRUSHED. This guy that I had been talking to for a year still didn't want me the same way I wanted him. I laid in bed, forcing myself to be okay with it. "We were just friends...okay. That's okay. I really like having Dave in my life, so I could be okay with it."

The next morning we hung out again, watching a movie in the living room, and tell me why this guy oh so "casually" lays his head on my lap...then any little thing that comes onto the screen that could be funny or noteworthy, he kept turning his head to look at me and oh just "accidentally" brushed his face in my boob.

I'm hella confused cause I thought I was just friend zoned last night, so what the hell is he doing today??? Finally I just say..."Um...you can...touch them if you want." Yeah, I had no game lmao.

Y'all, I wish y'all could have seen how ecstatic this guy got. Dave looked like a kid on Christmas, it was so damn cute. And...it all led to exactly what you'd expect...(The hub music)

After that, I was making fun of him, laughing, asking, "What the hell happened last night?! I thought we were going to sleep together last night!"

Dave starts laughing his ass off, saying, "I didn't know if you were serious or not! I didn't want to pressure you or make you feel uncomfortable!"

Yeah, Dave is a genuinely nice and sweet guy. Compassionate and charming. We ended up having a "Situationship" for about a year, before making it official.

Today marks our 3 years together, and...I already picked out the ring. <3

Thanks for reading.

TLDR I went on a double date with my best friend and "Dave," this guy I met on bumble. Went and saw a serial killer movie, and laughed like dumbass through it all. Today marks our 3 year anniversary.

Edit: LMAOOO he says he wasn't "That" disturbed cause I had previously mentioned I liked True Crime. His justification? There's a whole South Park episode about how women like True Crime. I love this man lol

TIFU - Don’t do what I did

On Sunday morning Aug. 24th, I awoke to discover a large blind spot in my right eye, which turned out to be what is called wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It has resulted in a very significant, permanent loss of vision in that eye. Although I maintain good peripheral vision, whatever I focus on at best is very blurry, and mostly disappears. I can barely make out the large E at the top of the eye chart. If this happens to my left eye I’ll be unable to read or drive. It turns out that I missed the opportunity that I had to prevent this from becoming a serious problem because I failed to report what appeared to be minor changes in my vision. In the weeks prior to August I had noticed that what I knew to be straight lines appeared to my right eye to have a little waviness. I also noticed that the color of my front lawn, which I could see through the window from my recliner,  was subdued, looked almost gray, in my right eye. So I scheduled an eye exam, which revealed the p...

TIFU by getting suspended for 2 days by my front office in school.

I (13M) am an African American student at Jeannette junior high who had got suspended for 2 days here. I was in math class minding my business until my teacher had told me to go to the main office, which posed no problem to me. As i went down there, the people of the front office had stopped me and made me get a new ID (yes, we have id's.) so i had asked them if i could maybe do a different alternative and call my mother to let her bring the Id here, even then, the Id isn't that important. So, although i was talking to them in a calm manner and not showing any signs of rebellion, they had threatened to call the police on me without thinking twice before calling my parents. This is where i started getting angry, and even then now the black peers agree that could have been a racially motivated action. They then told me to sit in the office conference room because of that, leading into more anger. They had then called my mother who had came over to the school didn't even let ...

TIFU by putting my already skinny jeans in the dryer on high heat.

TL;DR: Was stupid and didn't realize I put my clothes on extra high heat in the dryer. Had to rock skintight skinny jeans all day with tighty whities (only clean pair I had since I procrastinate doing laundry like crazy). I guess the constant wedgies and squishing are punishment for my stupidity. Honestly don’t know who else to blame but myself for this. I’m a scatterbrained guy so I literally put the highest setting on a load with most of my clothes, and my skinny jeans that I was planning to wear today. You can probably already see where this is going, but somehow I didn’t. For context, these jeans were already pushing the limits of what could reasonably be called wearable. They fit, technically, but only in the sense that I could get them on with enough determination and a bit of strategic breathing. Sitting down in them was more of a commitment than a casual action. Still, they looked good, and I had convinced myself that discomfort was just part of the aesthetic. So this m...
