TIFU by accidentally snatching a child from their parent

I (18M) had a very embarrassing experience earlier today.

I was at an ATM in a room with several machines, and as I was leaving, a man came in with his daughter. She wandered a bit, and he told her to come back. At the same time, another man walked past with his young son. I mistakenly assumed the first man was the father of both children. So when the little boy kept walking with his actual father, I thought he was straying, and I reacted without thinking and picked him up.

Almost immediately, I realized my mistake and put him back down. I apologized, and the father seemed to take it lightly and even laughed a bit, but I have not been able to shake the feeling since. I keep thinking about the fact that I touched someone else’s child without permission, and it makes me feel awful.

TL;DR: I accidentally snatched up a child from their parent thinking I was helping a child wondering off, I was mistaken. Nobody was harmed and the dad laughed it off but I still feel like an idiot.

TIFU by accidentally adding the police to a private WhatsApp group for private poker nights / sports betting events.

So Poker is highly regulated here in Belgium, so is being a bookie. Yet for the past I don't know how many years I (first with some friends, now alone) have been organizing some private poker nights and have ran a private sports betting competition. This sounds like a big deal, but in reality it isn't. None of the proceeds go to me, nor is there a rake during the poker nights. Problem is: these poker nights happen in 2 pubs after hours when they are closed, both pub owners are really good mates of me. So technically the pubs might be violating the law even though people bring their own booze (some will bring a bottle of Wodka, some a crate of beer, etc ...), pub owners don't actually sell anything during those nights (technically, in practice they sometimes just serve at their cost). The buy-in is also limited to €25 euro (no rebuy), so they are basically soft home games, just taking place in a pub behind closed doors. And everyone knows each other. Most of these people...

TIFU by not getting visual confirmation on the lube he was using

Obligatory not today, but I was talking with my ex (the counterpart in this story) and he said he was surprised I hadn’t written this post yet, and truthfully, he’s right.
