I really really love music. I can easily listen to music for 8 hours a day. It's something really important to me.
Well today I had to get some work done on my Chromebook. Normally I always use my phone for music but this time I decided I needed no distractions so I plugged my earbuds into the Chromebook instead. The first song I listened to immediately blew me away. The sound was so much clearer and defined than what I was used to and I even heard things I've never heard before in the songs. For example someone whispering in the background or a little sound effect. These were songs that I've been listening to for over a year so suddenly hearing there's so much more to them really surprised me to say the least.
One of the things I also noticed is that it sounded a lot more like surround sound. I checked some settings on my phone when I noticed I had "mono sound" turned on which means both earbuds will play the exact same thing, pretty much deleting surround sound. I turned it off and turns out that that was indeed the problem. By combining what is supposed to be two different sides it drowned out all the little details.
Tl;dr: listened to music through my Chromebook and found out my earbuds are capable of a lot better sound, looked through the settings on my phone and found out I have been ruining my music.
I advice everyone who regularly listens to music to check whether you might also have this setting turned on, I didn't know what I was missing until I heard the difference
