TIFU it-girl disasterclass

This actually happened a year and a half ago yada yada

Sophomore year of college, I (M19) had a thing for a friend of mine (F20). Already bad move as she was the it-girl, but anyway

I normally would have asked her out but I held myself back because we were both part of our student government and I didn't want to cross pollinate (overregulating myself harder than SF zoning law I know I know)

I complain about this case of affairs to a different friend (M22).

About a week and a half later me and my crush are hanging out she drops the "guess who I went on a date with?" outta nowhere

Somehow first guess I guessed my other friend, she says yeah.

I laughed just a wee bit too hard. Guess I should tell you my guy friend is like objectively hot, I ain't even gay but he's fine as fuck. I was kinda putting 2 and 2 together in my head

She said "what's so funny"

My dumbass fessed up at that point, couldn't think of an adequate lie

"If I had liked you I would have asked you out already"

TL:DR never do anything I did

-went for the it-girl, predictable result -overregulated myself, predictable result -told my hot guy friend, predictable result -told her when it was too late anyway, predictable result

In the words of another friend the guy "griddy'd and millyrocked on my grave" but hey I forgive him that was funny as hell, he also apologized
