TIFU by helping a smelly lady at work

Obligatory this was actually two days ago I work in retail management and absolutely fucking adore my job. After ten years in restaurants it’s a godsend to be able to be up and active and have 98% of my guests be the nicest people ever. Onto my story…. A couple days ago I was helping a lady find something. She was perfectly nice but (I’m sure everyone knows the type) fucking reeked. BO, cigarettes, you name it she smelled like it. I don’t like to judge your life situation and if you want some cute stuff to make you feel good I’m your girl. I was doing fine helping her and ignoring the smell until she was standing a foot away from me and audibly burped. I live with my SO (30M) and we both burp, as normal humans do at home, pretty frequently; because of this it took me a second to realize that this lady just burped in my face. It was a gnarly one too. I went on business as usual until the smell hit me. Holy fuck the smell. It was like something had just crawled out of the darkest dept...

Tifu by confusing meat thermometers with tire pressure gauges.

I recently started a new job at a trucking company. I've been looking at the tires and thinking they're kinda low and I've been using this thing they gave me to try and check the tire pressure. They gave me 2 of them. For 2 weeks I hear air come out of the tires when I try to use them and the needle never moves. I ask and I'm told you need to do it a certain way to get it to work. No dice. Oh well, I'll just ask about it next time I'm in the shop. This morning I walk up to the maintenance shop and ask why this thing isn't working. Did the company give me a broken tire pressure gauge? He pulls me aside and says "It's not working because it's a thermometer." So if you ever feel like you did something stupid and feel bad about it, refer back to here. Mind you I only justify my reasoning with "why would a trucking company give out a cooking thermometer to new employees. Nah maybe I was unlucky enough to be given 2 bad gauges." Tl...

TIFU by forgetting about my menstrual cup for almost a week.

This is going to be a bit gross… you’ve been warned. A bit of context. I (26F) am almost 7 weeks postpartum. Around 5 weeks P.P. My menstrual cycle started up again. This is unusually early but not unheard of. I knew that the flow would be really heavy since it was my first cycle since the baby. And it was. Flash forward a several days after it began. My boyfriend (30M) and I decided to go out and bar hop while my parents watched the kids. We had a lot of fun and decided to stay at a hotel, because we didn’t feel fit to drive. We were up until about four in the morning before we went to bed. Before we left the hotel I had taken out my cup to clean it. We were both exhausted and decided to grab food and coffee. I realized that I was starting to bleed through my jeans and panicked thinking I’d left my cup at the hotel. Too embarrassed to go back, I ran to Walmart to get tampons, and put one in. My period began to stretch in days 9, 10 and 11. My flow became dark and started to uhhh...

TIFU by planning too far ahead and out smarting myself

Ok so this was actually today and it's not the most interesting thing but maybe someone will get a laugh from it. The basics are that my company is moving me to a different cubicle so I've had to pack everything up in preparation. I only rarely have to be on site since the pandemic but when I am on site there is specific stuff I need (to enter the clean room). Knowing myself for the idiot I am I did not want to take this stuff home because I would 100% forget to bring it with me when I needed it. I also needed to pack my cubicle way in advance in case I didn't get back on site before the move (~30-40 minute commute). So knowing my tendencies I specifically decided to leave the stuff at work but packed in a moving box ready for the move. Now we come to today. I end up needing to be on site. I get to work and my clean room stuff isn't in the specific spot I usually leave it. Immediately my brain goes "Of course moron the move. You knew this would happen." And...

TIFU by downloading a "game"

Tl;DR at bottom So this litterally happened an hour ago and I'm lying on my bed writing this to make myself feel better. So yesterday, a colleague reached out to me saying they had a cool game they've been making with a group of friends. Cool, I checked out his website to check if it's even real and told him i'd check it out later (it looked like a standard makeshift project, nothing extraordinary, kind of weird that it had it's own ".com" website but whatever). He tried to persuade me to try it and let him know what I think about it but i was busy, so held it off for later. Anyways, I forgot, and remembered this morning, so decided why not, I'll download it real quick and give it a try. First, my Discord restarted, I foolishly thought that it was just an ill-timed update since i just turned on my pc, WRONG. BZZZZZ "Your account has been charged with 9,99 for discord.inc " -weird, this does seem fishy but maybe its just the monthl- B...

TIFU by "slapping the beef" in front of my 6yo

This happened last night. Let me set the scene. Yesterday, my wife (36) and daughter (13) tested positive for covid and are banished to one or both of their bedrooms. My oldest son (18) never leaves his room because video games = life, but has also been feeling pretty shitty despite a negative test result, though he has already had covid once. This leaves my youngest son (6) and me (35m) being the only ones in the house to feel fine, test negative, and have never contracted the virus and thusly have free reign of the rest of the house. As any decent father/husband would do, I sent them all a group text explaining that if this was a zombie virus, they would all be dead and 6yo and I would be our family's sole survivors and have to find a way to carry on without them. They laughed, called me an asshole and asked when dinner would be done and so I begin preparing the meal. The scene is set. I love corned beef. Not just for St. Patrick's Day, but all year. My wife does not love...

TIFU by lying about being sick and getting an injection

Slept through my first mid-term exam, the sad part is that I didn't even try to study, every time I looked at the book I felt like shit, and since I didn't study I kept telling myself I was shit in hopes of forcing myself to study, it didn't work, I hated myself and I didn't even study. When I woke up, I rushed to the exam site hoping I could at least get something over 0, they told me I couldn't and the only way to take the test again is to have an official excuse for why I was late. I called my dad, told him the gist, I knew he was mad, and I could feel his disappointment, but looking back at it now, he didn't really say anything hurtful, I was just panicked as fuck and stressed out. We talked for a bit and landed on getting a sick leave from a nearby hospital. So I get to the hospital, and as it's my first time in one alone, I was pretty nervous, thankfully though the employees were fantastic, I told them I had diarrhea and abdominal pain, I just...
